life...now

Whew!  What an exciting year it has been!  Since I last visited this little blog we welcomed our first son - Sweet Baby O, purchased a new home, and I started a new job when I returned from maternity leave!  Such a busy and fun year!  I am really interested in connecting with other working mamas who still make life at home work.  It has been a big adjustment for me to get used to working and balance all of the things that I enjoy in life.  I am looking forward to documenting a little bit of our lives!  Can't wait for the holiday season to start.

dinner

am in the mood to try out some new recipes... I love to cook. Hubby and I cook most nights of the week and have taken the time to fine tune some of our favorite recipes. I am starting to realize that we cook to OUR taste and while it may not be for everyone, it is delicious to me. And, when it is just you, your husband, and 2 chubby bulldogs... what really else matters?

I have been wanting to start trying out new dishes when we have no big plans on Sunday. I love the idea of having your home warm and cozy with the smells of your dinner cooking. Lately, I have been wanting to try something meaty or hearty. It is probably the cold weather we have been surviving lately.

Here are a couple of ideas I have found...

Beef Bourguignon

Have you made anything tasty lately?

let's go!

This week, we are very lucky. We are attending not one, but two Blazer games. Husband is excited, I am excited. He is forever a Blazer fan and a diehard fan of basketball. I love going to the live games. The energy is fun, there is endless hours of people watching, and plenty of delicious naughty food to enjoy.

Have a great week friends!

sneak peek, scenes from our satuday

As my last post may have suggested, I now know and treasure having a "real" weekend. I don't have to be at work on any day starting with "S" and I know now the joy of fighting the crowds each weekend while scouring Target for treasures. Truly, I love having weekends off with my husband and enjoy how much freedom it has given us as well as time together.

We have fallen into a bit of a weekend routine. We both lie in bed for a bit while waking up and browse our phones. Blogs for me, sports pages and YouTube for him. Inevitably, the bulldogs (the girls) will start begging and pleading their case that they belong in the bed and really, it is the only way to truly celebrate the first morning of the weekend. We do not let the girls sleep in the bed (anymore). They are both fat meatballs that radiate heat, fart, and snore. They adore time in the bed and will only ask in the morning. Well, ask is a bit mild, they are starting to demand. We welcome them in the bed for a little while and snuggle with them while getting our day started.

If you had a sneak peek into our Saturday morning, it would look something like this. Just consider yourself lucky this picture is soundless and odor free.

friday

It's Friday! I have worked odd hours for the past three years, and it is such a nice feeling to be able to say it is Friday! I have really been enjoying have real weekends this month and try to fit as much fun and festivities into them to make up for lost time. I am looking forward to enjoying the whole weekend with friends and family. We have some Sunday plans to get massages and then enjoy football. Tomorrow will be hopefully spending time with a friend. Tonight we are planning on going through a "haunted" corn maze with friends.

Happy Friday to everyone and hope you have a wonderful weekend!

you make me dance like a fool, forget how to breath. shine like gold, buzz like a bee

October 17, 2010 was a perfect sunny, crisp, fall day. Weather in the Pacific Northwest can be unpredictable at best, and this was an absolutely stunning autumn day. There was a chill in the air, and the sun was shining brightly through the changing leaves. 10.17.2010 was the day we dressed up, stood in front of family and friends to say our vows, and celebrated with those we love as husband and wife. We were married in a historic barn that was a perfect setting for our fall nuptials. We decorated the rustic setting with candles, mason jars full of hydrangeas, and paper lanterns. We enjoyed delicious food, a tower of freshly made cupcakes, and capped the night with a candy bar.

I can hardly believe we have been married for a year! I am so glad we can celebrate our marriage and our commitment to each other each year in October. October is the month of harmony you know! Also, it is both of our favorite time of the year. Full of corn mazes, pumpkins, turning leaves, festive lattes, gorgeous NW weather, and the beginning of the holiday season. This year marks our 7th Halloween together. We won't be dressing up this year, but it is fun to look back on our wedding attire from last year.
